Bennington Public Schools

bennington-school-logoBennington Public Schools is a rapidly-growing suburban school district located on the northwest edge of the Omaha metropolitan area. Established in 1892, the Bennington Public Schools has a long tradition of excellence in academics, activities, and athletics. Bennington has three elementary campuses, Bennington Middle School, and Bennington High School. We are known for strong academic performance and a balanced educational program that demonstrates the highest levels of success by our students in academics, arts, and athletics. This is achieved by strong leadership from the Board of Education and by the hard work and talent of all of our employees in partnership with our valued families and community. The district is also fiscally responsible. Although Bennington is a high levy district, it has ranked in the bottom five percent in cost per student.

The recognitions and achievements of Bennington Public Schools are many and are the result of board and administrator leadership, teacher and staff dedication, community support, and parent involvement over an extended period of time. The recent building blocks to which BPS stands on today have been developed by strong collaboration and open communication. Building on our current culture of collaboration and teamwork is a key to our success. It is through open communication and active partnerships between students, teachers, parents, businesses, and the community that our students will have access to significant, life-enriching learning experiences.

In 2013 the Board of Education approved moving forward with a five-year strategic planning process. Facilitated by former administrator and college professor, Dr. Larry Dlugosh guided approximately 40 school district stakeholders in developing Bennington Public Schools mission, belief statements, improvement goals and action steps. The strategic plan included short- and long-range goals that addressed 21st-century skills, personalized learning, communications and collaboration, and addressing the cultural and social needs of our students. Above all, it garnered the input and support of Bennington Public Schools stakeholders that included students, parents, staff members, administrators, business leaders and Board members. Our long-term commitment to Bennington’s strategic plan and continuous school improvement are among the reasons why Bennington Public Schools is one of the premier districts in the state.

Bennington is a very attractive place to live and raise a family, and we are proud of the fact that our schools offer vibrant centers of learning and community for our students and their families. Greatness does not occur in isolation; rather, it is the collaborative efforts of many in the community that set a vision of excellence and provide appropriate resources to educate the next leaders of our community.

Together we are building a community of learners.
