Fremont Public Schools are fully accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education. In addition, the school system holds district accreditation through AdvancEd, an independent regional accrediting agency. Fremont was the first district in Nebraska to receive this designation which was granted in 2007.
Approximately 160 students attend a special needs preschool and 1,800 students attend Kindergarten through fourth grade at the seven neighborhood elementary schools. Approximately 650 students attend the middle school in grades seven and eight, 680 students attend Johnson Crossing Academic Center in grades 5 & 6, while 1,260 attend grades 9-12 at the High School. The total district enrollment is approximately 4,615.
The 13-14 Fremont Public Schools general fund budget is $47.07 million with an average cost per pupil of $10,353. The budget is comprised of local sources 51% (47% property taxes), Dodge County 1%, State of NE, 43% and the federal government 5%.
