Kearney Public Schools

kps-logoSuperior education is a strong facet of community life in Kearney, with area schools successfully producing well-educated, motivated and productive students. The Kearney Public School (KPS) District has dedicated itself to providing excellence in education for all students. The district serves a total of over 5,600 students from birth through age 21. There are 10 elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and a preschool. The Kearney Community Learning Center (KCLC) has after-school programs at most of our elementary schools. Kearney Public Schools administrators, staff and parents are working together to inspire and empower students to impact the world.

Kearney High School is an impressive new building that opened in the fall of 2016. This amazing new facility has a state-of-the-art performance hall, unrivaled athletic facilities which include a competition pool, and classrooms that are outfitted with the latest technology. The Scott D. Morris Institute for Career and Technical Education provides students with the latest technology in the areas of welding, auto repair, manufacturing, metals, woodworking, architecture, construction, engineering and more.

An education at Kearney High School is centered on Small Learning Communities. Students can sample any of the six career fields offered: Agriculture/Food/Natural Resources, Business/Marketing/Informational Technology, Human Sciences/Education, and Skilled/Technical Sciences, Health Sciences, Fine & Performing Arts. Advanced placement classes, career and technical certifications and internships are exciting opportunities at KHS.

Kearney Public School students consistently score above the state and national averages on the American College Testing (ACT). Our students excel in district and state competitions in extracurricular activities, co-curricular activities, music and sports.

We encourage you to visit our award-winning district. With inspired teachers, involved parents, an engaged community, differentiated curriculum and confident students, we invite you to be involved in the Kearney Public Schools.
